Italian Festa
The annual Sacred Heart - Saint Francis Italian Feast culminated with the traditional procession through the streets of Newburgh on Sunday. The men of the parish carried statues of Jesus, St. Anthony and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, celebrating the feast days of the latter two. The procession ended at the Ann Street parking lot, where assorted sausage & peppers, meatballs, eggplant rollatini, prosciutto, pastries and the famous Zeppole awaited.
Father Fernando Hernandez (l.), pastor, offered prayers for the feast.
Julia Bilello, 90, has been a regular at the celebration since early childhood.

The church is now round and the parish has a new name - St Mother Teresa of Calcutta - but the traditions of the Sacred Heart Italian Feast date back a century.
