Marlboro Free Library
We’re celebrating Hygge (hyoo·guh), the Danish concept of feeling cozy and content during the winter months, at the library all day on Thursday, January 23. Drink hot cocoa or tea, socialize while putting together a puzzle or color, and listen to relaxing music! This program is open to all ages. Registration is not necessary. Drop in whenever you feel like it!

Intro to researching your family history and workshop to follow
On Saturday, January 25 the Marlboro Library will hold two genealogy classes, Getting Started with Genealogy and a Hands-On Workshop.
At 11 a.m., Getting Started with Genealogy attendees will learn how to map out a family tree, review the basics of AncestryLibrary.com, and hear about other available resources, including Fold3 for military records, and Heritage Quest, a database accessible from home. Attendees will also find out about discoveries that can be made with popular DNA testing kits, and will learn tips and tricks for searching websites and online databases. Please RSVP for this class (at marlborolibrary.org), walk-ins welcome.

At 12 p.m., Hands-On Workshop attendees will apply these newfound research skills to make discoveries! Attendees will search through genealogical databases and websites while library staff assist with questions or problems. Bring your library card and family history as far back as you know (even if it’s just your grandparents), and we will help expand your search!
Please note: attend just one or both programs, but registration is required to reserve a Hands-On Workshop laptop. Register online at marlborolibrary.org. If you bring your own laptop, feel free to attend without registering.

John Cary Presents: Introduction To Python Computer Coding, Part Ii
Have you ever wondered how computer programs are written and what all that code looks like behind the scenes? Join us at the Marlboro Library on Monday, January 27 at 7 p.m. for an introduction to the world of programming using the computer language called “Python”.
During this program, you will get a basic understanding of how the program operates and all the power it has in making complex calculations instantly. Additionally, we will explore the platform where all the programming and execution of the programs take place.

Attendees are asked to bring their own laptops. Please call the library at 236-7272, if you need to reserve one of the library’s laptops, as a limited number are available on a first-come, first served basis. Registration is required, as a limited number of spaces are available.
All are welcome to join the Book Club! On Wednesday, January 29, 1776 by David McCullough will be discussed. Copies are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk for those who may wish to join us in the community room at 7 p.m.

At Home in Mitford, by Jan Karon, makes it easy to feel at home. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet, Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won’t go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that’s sixty years old. Suddenly, Father Tim gets more than he bargained for. And readers get a rich comedy about ordinary people and their ordinary lives.

Are you an avid reader? Do you like to discuss books with others? Then come join our Book Club! Meetings are the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 6 p.m. Hosted by Jessica Cohen.
