Jodi Lynn was named Town of Montgomery Citizen of the Month for June at the Montgomery Town Board meeting on June 4.

“Just about any time something is needed she raises her hand and helps,” said Montgomery Town Supervisor Brian Maher. “She is just the type of person that never asks for accolades, never really is somebody who is honored all that much with awards and we just thought it was really important to recognize her.”

Lynn received the honor for her work as a member of the Walden Community Council. She has been a member since around 2002 and was formerly the president, vice president and secretary of the council. She is part of the group’s committees for the Music in the Grove concert series and the Walden Veterans Memorial Park. Last year she helped organize Candidates Night prior to the Town of Montgomery’s election.

“If there’s anything that’s needed, I tend to jump in,” she said.

During the COVID-19 pandemic she has volunteered for the Town of Montgomery Community Response Team. She has helped recruit young people for the Response Team and to volunteer time for the Town of Montgomery Food Pantry. Lynn solicited the judges for the Valley Central School District’s essay contest. She judged the essays along with Treasurer of the Walden Community Council Jean Winum and Secretary of the Walden Community Council and Direct of the Josephine-Louise Public Library Ginny Neidermier.

Furthermore, Lynn is part of the committee for the Walden Harvest Fest and participated in the Town of Montgomery National Night Out 2018. She accepted her Citizen of the Month Award modestly.

“[I was] surprised, honored,” she said.
