Max Borchert is this year’s recipient of the Father Hanley Council # 7266 Knights of Columbus $1,000 scholarship. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous member of the parish, an additional $200 has been added to this year’s scholarship.

Presenting the K of C scholarship at the 9:30 Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marlboro on Sunday, June 21, Raymond Leduc, Sr., chairperson of the scholarship committee, commented that this year’s recipient is a 2020 graduate of Marlboro High School and has taken on many leadership roles in the school, in Marlboro, and in the surrounding communities. A high honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society, Max has been a member of the high school band and participated in two varsity sports. Actively involved in several leadership roles in the scouting program, he has earned the Eagle Scout Badge, the highest recognition in scouting and has been an organizer for several community fundraisers. In addition to being a baseball/softball umpire and working in a local pizzeria, Max has had all sorts of jobs over the years working with the family owned business. Max is a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus member and has been described as most responsible and extremely mature with a bright future.

The son of Stephen and Alba Borchert, Max will be attending SUNY-New Paltz in the fall.
