In a crowded Gus’s tavern George Meyers, Saturday, picked up the endorsement of state Democratic senator James Skoufis in Meyers race against incumbent New Windsor supervisor George Green.
Skoufis described Meyers as the kind of leader New Windsor needs “who can stop corruption.”
For his part Green has been sidelined with illness that he recently said publicly in a newspaper interview that he is getting better to return to soon lead the town government in person.
Meyers, who defeated Green in the Republican primary this past spring, is running on both the Republican and Democratic lines.
Meanwhile the reform minded Skoufis also Saturday took aim at politicians who pad their staffs with cronies whose work is duplication or unnecessary. “This stops now,” Skoufis vowed.
