Step into a unique world where art meets history. Curated by local artist Jessica Gaddis, “The House” features original artwork from Lauren Anderson, Omari Douglin, Eric Ehrnschwender, Jessica Gaddis, Amanda Heidel, Julia Rooney, Val Shamma, Charlie Smith, Mindy Solis and Celeste Wilson. Its goal is to showcase the things in our lives that tell us about our past and how we can understand who we are today by what people have left behind. With pieces displayed throughout the house, the show aims to compress histories by juxtaposing these contemporary works in the old space and generate something new and exciting.

“What I am most excited about is how this installation of our contemporary works framed by the history of this space will generate a third thing - a compressed and nonlinear history in the physical,” stated Gaddis. “The Persen House is an amazing history capsule and I really appreciate the decisions made by the County to maintain and preserve it through the years. They’ve chosen to present the house as originally as possible. The walls themselves are like physical timelines.” An opening reception will take place at the Persen House on Saturday, July 27 from 1:00-3:00pm. A gallery guide and short essay will be available to all visitors. The exhibit will remain available for viewing through August 17th. “We are thrilled to be able to bring such a fresh, new perspective to the Persen House,” stated County Clerk Postupack. “Our history and heritage can be interpreted in so many ways and we look forward to seeing how the artists interpret the house through sculpture.”

This exhibition is open through August 17th.
