Numerous projects on the table for VC

Brad Conklin, Valley Central School Business Official, led a review of the district’s 2023 approved construction projects at a special meeting of the school board January 22.

Conklin said the district’s many projects will begin this summer and are expected to be completed by the summer of 2026.

Starting with the high school, Conklin mentioned projects including a boiler replacement and conversion from steam to water. Other projects are a new secured vestibule, renovations to the second-floor science wing (11 classrooms) and replacement of the tennis courts.

Middle school projects include renovations for a secured vestibule, building-wide signage (room numbering and wayfinding) and technology classroom renovations (three classrooms).

In Berea Elementary, a security vestibule will require the relocation of the main office and a kindergarten classroom.

East Coldenham Elementary will see a boiler replacement, renovations to provide a secured vestibule and replacement of its fire alarm system.
Montgomery Elementary will receive sidewalk repairs, a boiler replacement and renovations to provide a secured vestibule.

Walden Elementary will undergo renovations to provide a secured vestibule conversion of an existing fourth grade classroom; and in turn, third-floor renovations to accommodate a fourth-grade classroom. Walden will also replace its fire alarm system.
