New Windsor’s Democratic Committee has made a ground-breaking endorsement of a bipartisan slate of candidates for the November 2019 election.

According to Committee Chair Bette Ann Yarus, “we sought and found the best choices regardless of political affiliation. We selected candidates who are prepared with experience, education and energy to solve issues facing this diverse community. Unresolved water problems, runaway development and limited community participation in town decisions number among the many issues this bipartisan group will address.”

The positions and endorsed candidates are:
Supervisor-George Meyers, past Supervisor of the Town of New Windsor for 12 years, is a retired Troop Commander/ Major of the NY State Police, a past instructor of public administration and criminal justice at Orange County Community College and a Republican.

Town Council-Sylvia Santiago, a 16-year community activist elected to the Newburgh School Board, is a 20-year Financial Controller for GCG Connect in New Jersey and a Democrat.

Town Council- Stephen Bedetti, the Communications Supervisor for New Windsor’s Police Department, is President of New Windsor’s CSEA and the Vails Gate Fire Department. He is a Republican.

Town Clerk- Kelly Allegra has operation management experience at American Express, Neuberger & Berman and other global financial service companies. She is currently an owner and director of a NYC based commercial cleaning service and a graduate of Leadership Orange 2007 and a Democrat.
