The Board of Directors of the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center has announced the selection of Peter Criswell as the new Executive Director.

“After conducting an extensive nationwide search we are pleased that a person with Peter’s breadth and depth of experience will be joining us to lead the Center,” said the board in a prepared statement

Criswell comes with years of executive experience in nonprofit management including leading the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus and the Dharmakaya Center for Wellbeing. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Bard College and a Master of Science in Business Leadership and Strategic Management. Peter is currently serving in his first term as an Ulster County Legislator for District 7 - City of Kingston Wards 6, 7 and 8. His legislative experience and working with all types of groups and people will serve him well in this new role. Peter is also serving his second term on the City of Kingston’s Arts Commission and sits on the boards of Bard College’s Alumni Association, and Key of Q, the LGBTQ and Allied Acapella Singers of the Hudson Valley.

“This is an incredible opportunity to combine my passion and personal commitment for community service and blend it with my professional business experience,” Criswell said. “ I can’t think of a better place to do this than at the Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center. For over 15 years, the Community Center has been a leader in the fight for equality and inclusion and I’m honored to continue that fight and grow the Center.”
Criswell takes over from Executive Director Jeff Rindler-Jordan who is leaving for personal family reasons. His start date is Jan 13.
