The annual reorganization for the new fiscal year went without a hitch recently in the Village of Maybrook, with no surprise appointments. In addition, most annual village events have been scheduled to be held this year.

Mayor Dennis Leahy re-appointed Trustee Robert Pritchard as Deputy Mayor. Trustees Kevin Greany and James Barnett both won re-election to a two-year term each. Pritchard and Trustee Daryl Capozzoli have one year remaining on their term. Village board members maintain their committee appointments: Greany, water/sewer; Leahy, recreation; Pritchard, planning and zoning boards and economic development, Capozzoli, community center; and Barnett, building dept.

Village Justice William Schimpf was re-elected for another four-year term. Additionally, the Village Board appointed Edward Souto to serve as acting village justice in the event the elected village justice is unavailable.

The board unanimously confirmed all other mayoral appointments, including Valentina “Tina” Johnson as Village Clerk/Treasurer; Timothy Ippolito, Bldg. Inspector, Code Enforcement Officer and Fire Inspector; Darlene Sparks, Village Historian; Sean Hoffman, Village Engineer; Burke, Miele, Golden & Naughton, Village Attorney;  Wallkill Valley Times and Times Herald Record, official newspapers; and Wallkill Federal Savings & Loan and Orange Bank and Trust, official banks.

Other confirmed appointments and term lengths were: Guy Cusamano and Tina Johnson, Board of Ethics, one year; Charles Woznick, Planning Board, five years; and John Lown, Zoning Board, five years.

Greany chairs the Memorial Day Committee. This year’s parade will be held and will begin 9 a.m., Mon., May 31. Services will follow at the Frederick Myers Veterans Memorial Park.

The Kick-Off the 4th of July Celebration committee is chaired by Donna Barletta. It will be held Fri., June 25 with a rain date of June 26.

The Celebrate Maybrook event (Maybrook Day) is canceled this year.
