Developers plan to break ground on Project Sailfish, a proposed 1-million-square-foot warehouse in the Town of Montgomery, by October.

RC Andersen, LLC, put out a request for proposals (RFP) on May 14 for the construction of Project Sailfish, with a bid due date of May 30. The construction start date is Oct. 1 and the end date is first quarter 2020.

The Final Environmental Impact statement is currently under review by the Town of Montgomery planning board.

Located near Interstate-84 (I-84) and the intersections of NYS Route 17K and 747, the $75 million project will turn 188 acres of vacant land into an approximately 1-million-square-foot warehouse with more than 1,000 car parking spaces and 225 truck trailer spaces. The planning board application was submitted on behalf of Bluewater Industrial Partners.

The RFP also states due to the confidential nature of this tenant, a non-disclosure agreement would need to be executed before bid documents could be distributed. Project developers have not disclosed the tenant, stating it will be an e-commerce company.

According to MWVPL International, a specialized supply chain, logistics and distributing consulting firm, the facility will be an Amazon non-sortable fulfillment center, which generally houses items that can’t be sorted into a box with other items due to size.
