Public hearing continued on Russin Factory Finishing

The Montgomery Planning Board held an abbreviated meeting earlier this month with only one public hearing on the agenda.

Russin Factory Finishing is a project proposed on 12.6 acres on Bracken Road near Cintas. The applicants are looking to construct a 20,000 square foot building on the property to house their finishing operation for siding, trim and finished lumber. Formerly located at 160 Bracken Road, the business consolidated into a smaller location in Maybrook in 2008 and now needs additional space.

On Tuesday, engineer Tom Olley advised the Montgomery Planning Board that he had not yet received a letter from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, however he had received a letter regarding “mostly technical issues” on the “water quality basin” and they are in the process of making necessary revisions. They are also reviewing lighting for the project, which he hopes to wrap up in the next couple days.

In addition, the board granted a 90-day extension of the conditional final approval given to Ponds at Montgomery. The project is a 14-lot major subdivision with one commercial lot, located on Route 17K. The project has received 41 previous extensions.

The meeting was also marked by a moment of silence for the passing of Annamarie Kelly, wife of longtime board member Bill Kelly.
