“The Marlboro Free Library is pleased to announce that Reminiscence Kits are now available for checkout at the library! These kits contain materials related to a particular theme and are a great way for seniors to share memories with friends, families, and caregivers.
Kit topics were chosen by the Marlboro/ Milton Senior Association and are; Baking in the 1950s; Popular Department Stores of the 1950s, 60s & 70s; Music of the 60s & 70s; and Popular Movies & TV Shows of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Kits can be found by searching “Reminiscence Kit.”
This project was made possible by a grant from the Mid-Hudson Library System.

Intro to researching your family history and workshop to follow
On Saturday, January 25 the Marlboro Library will hold two genealogy classes, Getting Started with Genealogy and a Hands-On Workshop.
At 11 a.m., Getting Started with Genealogy attendees will learn how to map out a family tree, review the basics of AncestryLibrary.com, and hear about other available resources, including Fold3 for military records, and Heritage Quest, a database accessible from home. Attendees will also find out about discoveries that can be made with popular DNA testing kits, and will learn tips and tricks for searching websites and online databases. Please RSVP for this class (at marlborolibrary.org), walk-ins welcome.
At 12 p.m., Hands-On Workshop attendees will apply these newfound research skills to make discoveries! Attendees will search through genealogical databases and websites while library staff assist with questions or problems. Bring your library card and family history as far back as you know (even if it’s just your grandparents), and we will help expand your search!
Please note: attend just one or both programs, but registration is required to reserve a Hands-On Workshop laptop. Register online at marlborolibrary.org. If you bring your own laptop, feel free to attend without registering.

At Home in Mitford, by Jan Karon, makes it easy to feel at home. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet, Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won’t go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that’s sixty years old. Suddenly, Father Tim gets more than he bargained for. And readers get a rich comedy about ordinary people and their ordinary lives.
Are you an avid reader? Do you like to discuss books with others? Then come join our Book Club! Meetings are the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 6 p.m. Hosted by Jessica Cohen.
