Santa visits the Hudson Valley Rail Trail

Posted

On Friday evening Santa Claus made an special appearance at the Hudson Valley Rail Trail parking lot off Haviland Road in Highland. Parents brought their children in the family car, got in line, and inched their way forward to meet Santa. Upon entering the parking lot they were greeted by a brightly lit Christmas tree and a reindeer, large blow ups of Santa and Snoopy, along with Santa’s Workshop. Kids got the chance to get out of the car and pose for a picture with Santa as Mom and Dad snapped a memory for the scrapbook.

The Santa drive-through evening was a joint venture that was hosted by the Hudson Valley Rail Trail and the Town of Lloyd Events Committee. Special thanks went out to Santa and his many elves and numerous volunteers, the Town of Lloyd, the Town of Lloyd Police Department and the Highland Rotary Club for traffic control, Grey’s Woodworking for the shed, the Litts Family, Town of Marlboro, Erichsen’s Auto Service, Ryder Painting for the light towers, Matt Smith for Santa’s sled, NYS Parks for bike racks, the Highland School District for the loan of a school bus, members of the Highland High School Interact Club, Highland Elementary School Teachers and staff, the Highland Transportation Department and Ethan Jackman and Dolly Hello Real Estate. A video was compiled by Ethan Thompson @droninallday, that can be viewed on Facebook at the Hudson Valley Rail Trail page.
