Stephanie Giufre named TOM Citizen of the Month

Posted

At the Montgomery Town Board meeting on March 4, Stephanie Giufre was named the town’s citizen of the month for March. She earned the award after dining at almost all of the restaurants highlighted by the Business Council of Greater Montgomery’s Dine for Dollars event.

The business council hosted Dine for Dollars throughout the month of February, featuring a different restaurant each day. Customers who dined in or ordered takeout from the restaurant of the day had 10 percent of their bill donated to the Town of Montgomery Food Pantry. Participating businesses were also advertised on both the business council’s Facebook page and website as well as the Town of Montgomery Facebook page.

A member of the community approached Randi Picarello, executive director of the business council, asking her to nominate Giufre for citizen of the month. This person was impressed by Giufre’s participation in the Dine for Dollars event. She noted that Giufre always supports local businesses at their grand openings and posts on social media so more people know about them. Picarello nominated Giufre for all of her support to small businesses during this trying time.

Giufre contributed greatly to the success of the Dine for Dollars event, which raised approximately $3,300 for the town’s food pantry.

“When we saw the success of Dine for Dollars, we thought it was a great time to highlight somebody who supports their community but is also very supportive of the Dine for Dollars program as well,” said Montgomery Town Supervisor Brian Maher.
