The evolution of Galeville Mills
At one time Galeville was a thriving village of stores, schools, church, sawmill & gristmill and other industries and one of the largest population centers of Shawangunk.

In the 1850’s, Galeville was on track to be the government center of Shawangunk.
What industries and people spurred the growth from sparse farmland to a large population center and then declined to a few houses and no industry, stores or church ?
Find out at the next meeting of the Historical Society of Shawangunk and Gardiner, Wednesday, Sept. 4, 7 - 9 p.m. at the former Knights of Pythias Hall, 5 Main Street, Wallkill.
Admission of free. Light refreshments follow.
