Crawford plans for Bullville revitalization

Bullville will soon be getting a makeover.

Alfred Fusco, Principal Engineer with Fusco Engineering and Land Surveying, P.C., presented preliminary concepts for the intersection of NYS Route 17K and 302 in the hamlet of Bullville at the town board meeting on June 20.

Plans include sidewalks, benches, historical lighting, a four-way clock, landscaping, street signs and more. Fusco said his firm could also work with the town code enforcement officer to bring neighboring properties into compliance with town code.

Town Supervisor Charles Carnes said the project will be paid for with a $125,000 revitalization grant from former New York State Senator Bill Larkin’s office. While he hopes the grant will cover the entire cost of the project, Carnes said the board might contribute funding if necessary.

Fusco said while the town may not be able to complete every element, he will facilitate meetings with stakeholders and local businesses for suggestions for the area.

“We’ll be talking to owners of properties to make sure we meet their needs,” Fusco said.

The beautification of the intersection will hopefully attract businesses to the hamlet, Carnes said.
