Have you been down to Whipped Cupcakes? Talk about Yummy! Nicole Conklin is the proprietor and baker. She whips up the most delicious cupcakes and other amazing treats. My recommendation is a scone for breakfast which is served with a cute little jar of strawberry preserves.

My favorite cupcake so far is her chocolate with peanut butter. She’s down at 93 Homestead Avenue, a couple of doors down from Little Pops. There’s tables to sit and have a treat and some coffee or tea. Not only is the atmosphere a delight but Nicole herself is a delight to talk to.

She had a grand opening on January 11 and we had a taste of a very special treat - a Fried Cupcake! It was a caramel apple cupcake that was deep fried and served with whipped cream.

She has some staple cupcakes that will be featured every day and then she adds a couple of different ones each day. You’ll be happy you went to check it out.

Newest recipient of the Joseph E. Dineen Award

A big congratulations to our own Jane Schimpf. Jane is the newest recipient of the Joseph E. Dineen Award. The award is based on volunteerism. Jane and her family have lived here in Maybrook for more than 45 years.

Jane worked for the Village of Maybrook as Court Clerk/Deputy Village Clerk from 1980 to 2002.

While working full time, Jane raised her son Tom and she devoted a lot of volunteer hours in the community. She volunteered for the Village of Maybrook Recreation Program dances, she taught religious education classes at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. She served for a number of years as treasurer for the Maybrook Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She created a successful clothing drive.

Since 2016 Jane has devoted her time to the Maybrook Golden Links Senior Club as their President. Thank you Jane for your years of dedicated service to the Village of Maybrook.

New Eagle Scouts from Scout Troop 236

Congratulations go out to two new Eagle Scouts from Scout Troop 236. Brandon O’Brien and Aaron Goldstein. Brandon installed 6 new flag poles at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2064 in Maybrook. Each flag pole flies a flag from the 6 different branches of the military. He also spruced up the front of the VFW. Aaron was able to paint the main office of the Maybrook Police Department which has needed an uplift for a while. These Scouts have great inspirations.

Aaron is hoping to go to West Point when he graduates Valley Central High School and Brandon has been accepted to the U.S. Naval Academy. Congratulations to both, you make Maybrook Proud.

Dean’s List
More congratulations go out to Kayla Ballard, Danielle Cravello, Makalyn Decker, Timothy Jenkins, Alexa Kelly, Kevin Lacina and Kayci Winnie. They are all from Maybrook and they have all made the Dean’s List at Orange County Community College. You make us proud.
