Sincere condolences are extended to the family of Kevin J. McFadden, well known Walden resident who passed away on March 28, 2019. 

Kevin wore many hats including President of Most Precious Blood Church Parish Council, Eucharistic Minister, and lector.  He was a trustee on the  Josephine-Louise Public Library Board and much more.  Kevin saw the good in everyone. He always came to the aid to those in need.  We were all blessed to have had Kevin McFadden touch our lives.  He will be missed.
 
Lenten Dinners hosted by M. P. B.,  K. of C. 9254 will be ready for pick up.  Let the Knights do the cooking on Fridays during  Lent. Call (845) 778-6664  to reserve an order no later than Thursday for Fridays meal.  All meals are $7. each.  Take out only! Pick up at Father Sullivan Hall, Walnut Street on Friday 5 – 6:30 p.m. 

The  April 12 dinner consists of  Parmesan Tilapia; Garlic Mashed Potatoes;  vegetable; biscuit and Cookies.

 
The Walden Community Council looks forward to  meeting  at the Fox Hill Community, 80 Coleman Road, Walden tonight,  Wednesday, April 10.  The Harvest Fest Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. 

The WCC meeting begins promptly at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and new members are encouraged to attend.  For information call Sue at 778-3532.
 
Karen Lendle sends word that the First Reformed Church, 70 Scofield Street, Walden, will hold a “Fill a bag for $1 clothing sale” on Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Please use the Church Street entrance. 
 
The Walden Woman’s Club will hold their annual Spring luncheon at the Lakeview House on Saturday, April 13 at 12 noon.

Don’t miss the Walden Harvest Fest Committee/Walden Community Councils’ indoor Spring Bazaar on April 13, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  at the John Howland Teen Center, Wooster Grove, 89 East Main Street.   

More than 20 dealers will be on site as well as a food vendor, raffle baskets and a 50/50.  Space size 8 X 10  for a $35 fee.

The Village of Walden P. D. and the Walden Elementary School PTO will present a program at the Walden Fire House, 230 Old Orange Avenue on Wednesday, April 10, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. “Keeping Your Children Safe in Today’s Digital World: a Parent’s Guide”. 

Attorneys from the Orange County Attorney’s Office will discuss the dangers encountered in today’s digital world. They will give parents the tools they need to better understand technology by using a nationally award-winning multi-media presentation along with real-life examples.  Non Tech-Savvy parents can learn how to access their children’s devises and how to employ tips and tools to set up parental safeguards. 

A Q&A session  will follow this presentation.  This is an important FREE seminar for parents of children who have access to phones and social media.
 
Get ready, get set and GO to the Village of Walden’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt held on Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. at James W. Olley Park, 97 Sherman Avenue. 

Bring your basket and meet the Easter Bunny.  Lots of fun for the entire family.  Age groups include:  0-4 years; 5-7 years and 6 – 11 years.  Prizes awarded for 2 children in each group who find the GOLDEN egg.

 
The Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road  will hold another of their great indoor yard sales on Thursday, April 18, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Many outstanding items are ready to be purchased.    All proceeds benefit the care of the animals at the shelter.

On Wednesday, April  17, 7. p.m. at the Walden Municipal Building, 3rd floor Bradley Assembly Room, Park Ranger and Librarian, Jeffrey S. Dosik of the National Park Service will present a program “Coming to America:The Ellis Island Experience”.

This program will cover the history of immigration to America in the late nineteenth and twentieth century through “Ellis Island”.  The most famous immigration station in American history.  For information call 778-7772.
 
TOMSIP (Town of Montgomery Seniors Independence Project) will hold their 13th Volunteer Recognition Dinner for TOMSIP Volunteers on Wednesday, April 24, 5 – 8 p.m. at the Maybrook Senior Center. 

Larry Frumes, will be honored as 2019 Volunteer of the year and Community Home Care Services and their Rep. Erin Katchmar will be honored as 2019 Vendor of the Year.  You are encouraged to join this great group.Tickets are $20 per person for a sit down Turkey dinner.

The Valley Central Education Foundation will host their 8th Annual Longaberger Basket Bingo on Friday, April 26 at the Valley Central Middle School. 

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.  Calling starts at 6:30 p.m.  There will be 12 regular games of bingo and 4 specials for an advance ticket purchase for $20. and at the door for $25.  There will also be a tricky tray, large raffles, 50/50 and a concession stand.
