Ukuleleans to strum again
The Gardiner Library will host another meeting of the Ukulele Club, the Ukuleleans, led by Jeff Pfeffer on Wednesday February 12 from 7 to 9 p.m.
This free monthly club is for all ages of ukulele players, from beginner to experienced. The aim will be to encourage one another along as group members have fun with this uniquely upbeat instrument. Individuals will also be given the opportunity to perform for the group, if they desire, building confidence to perform in front of audiences.
Jeff Pfeffer has been playing the ukulele for over 20 years, giving lessons to beginners along the way. He has performed locally in nursing homes and hospitals, as well as open mics and other venues. He particularly enjoys tin-pan-alley, novelty songs, and sing-a-longs, with a focus on performance.
The Ukulele Club will meet the second Wednesday of the month. The next meeting will be on March 11.
Clubs meet in the library community room, 133 Farmer’s Turnpike in Gardiner.

Slow Jam returns to Gardiner
The Gardiner Library will once again offer Slow Jam on Sunday February 16 from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m. All musicians and acoustic instruments are welcome. The Slow Jam allows those new to playing an acoustic instrument to practice with some friendly, local musicians. Musicians gather to play Old Time, folk songs, bluegrass, Western and other homespun-type songs. Participants play at a slower pace, so everyone is given the chance to learn the songs. There’s no audience and no pressure. The Slow Jam takes place on the third Sunday of every month.
The library is located at 133 Farmer’s Turnpike in Gardiner. For directions or further information call 255-1255 or visit www.gardinerlibrary.org.
