Gardiner Library Book Club 
The Gardiner Library Book Club will meet on Wednesday March 4 from 3 to 4 p.m. to discuss this month’s book, Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe. From the award-winning New Yorker staff writer the novel delves into the intricate narrative about the notorious killing of a Northern Ireland mother and its aftermath. Everyone is welcome.
The book club meets the first Wednesday of the month. The club meets in the library community room, 133 Farmer’s Turnpike in Gardiner.

Discover a plant-based lifestyle

The Gardiner Library will host a Beginner’s Guide to a Plant-Based Lifestyle with Rebecca Carucci on Saturday March 7 from 12 to 1 p.m. Learn more about the benefits of eating a plant-based diet. Some of the topics that will be discussed are the health benefits, breaking down the myths, and how to get started. Participants will also learn how to prepare a quick and easy plant-based meal that they will be able to sample.
Rebecca Carucci is certified in Plant-Based Nutrition and owns Powered by Plants Consulting. She is a Plant-Based Consultant who supports individuals and businesses transition to plant-based practices. Her background includes catering events, health coaching, and being a food consultant for Vegan Wines.

Enter the Harry Potter escape room!
The Gardiner Library will host a Harry Potter Escape Room on Saturday March 7 from 4: to 6:30 p.m. Wizards and muggles ages 9 and up are invited to sign up during one 30 minute time slot, individually or as a team. Only 30 minutes to solve 4 puzzles and escape the library! Pre-register for a time slot by March 4. Space is limited.

Gardiner’s Drive-in presents Cars
The popular Kids Drive-In Movie continues at the Gardiner Library on Sunday March 8 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Children bring a cardboard box big enough that they can sit in and decorate it like a car. They then can drive up and watch the show. The movie will be Cars. The movie is rated G and lasts 1 hr and 57 min. The box car making craft begins at 12:30 p.m. with the movie showtime of 1 p.m. All ages welcome. The library will provide the art supplies, popcorn, and juice. Please note that the library will NOT have extra boxes, so participants need to bring their own box.
The fun will be held in the library community room, 133 Farmer’s Turnpike in Gardiner, NY. The community room is equipped with T-coil technology for those with compatible hearing aids and cochlear implants. Slow-stitching club to meet

Gardiner Library hosts another Slow Stitching Club meeting on Tuesday March 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. The club meets monthly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. Enjoy hand sewing as a form of meditation, relaxation and socialization. Bring a portable hand-sewing project and enjoy some “me” time while artfully stitching a favorite project. Hand-quilting, embroidery, crewel, linen, ribbon, even crochet!

Hearing loss support group to meet
The Hearing Loss Group at the Gardiner Library will meet Thursday March 12 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. This month’s topic is: American Sign Language. Jeanine Byrnes, Hearing Loss Advocate at Taconic Resources for Independence, will teach a few basic signs. Learn the history of ASL and join in the fun. You never know when this skill may come in handy.
The goal is to provide information and support to those who have or live with someone who has hearing loss. Hearing loss can be an isolating condition. These meetings provide strategies for maintaining and improving the quality of life for hard of hearing people in our area.
