Kudos to all the Health Care Providers, First Responders and all who have been working so tirelessly during COVID-19. Please continue to have faith, trust and confidence. God will take care of us and help us take care one another.

Walden Senior Members send Happy Birthday greetings to fellow members celebrating birthdays in April: Janice Cornell, Mary Santana, Kathryn Hopper and Annie Lewis. May you all enjoy your special day!
Family and friends send “Happy 100th Birthday’’ to a very special resident at the Montgomery Nursing Home. Florina Schmidt was born in Upper Nyack on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1920. She is the proud mom of 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren who adore her. Florina has given much love and the gift of laughter to her family and friends. Due to the current quarantine at the nursing home the celebration planned for her by family and friends are now on hold.
As soon as they receive the “all clear” there will be a big shindig for her.

The Grab And Go Program for Families in Need initiated by the Valley School District continues. Kristie Hall sends word that the main head shaving event for St. Baldricks at the Walden Firehouse continues to be postponed due to Covid-19. The new date will be announced at a future time.

The Josephine-Louise Public Library sends the following news:
Get Counted! Now is a great time to complete the 2020 Census online. You would have received an invitation in the mail that included a unique code for households to enter the survey online. If you lost your code, you can still be identified by your cross streets. There are only nine questions. Each member of a household has their ‘own’ set of nine questions – from babies to the most senior person in a home. Due to Covid-19, it is more important than ever that people who have access to the internet fill out their Census online. If you are not able to answer the questions via the internet or mobile phone, paper questionnaires will be mailed in April. You might receive a phone call from a Census taker in May reminding you to fill out the form. The next step will have Census takers following up by going door-to-door. But stay alert and don’t be fooled by telephone scams. Census takers will never ask for personal, Social Security or banking information. Census takers who come to our neighborhood will have valid identification. If you are unsure or have concerns, then wait until the libraries re-open and come in for any questions you may have.
Please make sure you “get counted”. Census information plays a huge role in the allocation of funding to communities. If a community is not fully counted, funding gets re-routed elsewhere. This will also jeopardize your representation in the number of sears that NYS holds in the House of Representatives. Did you know that there are 435 representatives allowed in the House, to be divided by all 50 states? New York deserves to be represented fairly.
The library has had to re-shuffle some of their programming for March and April. Mario Garcia, U. S. Census Bureau, was scheduled to visit the library this afternoon but due to current events he will return later in April to be available for questions and answers.
The library will suspend programs through March 28 in response to health issues. We will reassess programming after March 30. We will do our best to keep other services available.
