Growing up in Scotchtown

The Town of Wallkill Historical Society will meet on Saturday, June 8 at 2 p.m. at the Circleville Church, Goshen Turnpike.

Jack Foster will talk about many subjects which he will discuss in detail. Jack has an outstanding recall to the point of remembering exactly what was said back 50-plus years ago.

Some subjects he will address are growing up in the Scotchtown area working on farms, the Mills’ Orchards and the Telephone Company (and cutting off all the phones by punching a hole in the main line).

On the fun side he will talk about the dances at Townley Hall, the last cattle drive, and riding horses on the unfinished Route 17 Freeway.

This presentation will be preserved on a disk as he is one of the last old-timers with old-time stories.
