Helmut Klemens Fakler of Greentown, PA, formerly of Walden, passed away in Scranton, PA, at 81.

The son of the late Alois and Theresia Weber Fakler, Hal was born on February 17, 1937 in Bellamont, Germany. Hal was the beloved husband of Mary E. Deierlein Fakler and an owner of Fakton Iron Works, Inc. in New Windsor. He was an active member of Most Precious Blood Church in Walden and then St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh until he and Mary moved to PA in 2014. He was devoted to spreading the word of God and the work of Jesus through the Cursillo Movement and be being Franciscan with the Third Order of St. Francis.

Survivors include his wife Mary at home; daughter, Mare Fakler-Corwin (James) of Newburgh; son, Wayne Fakler of Wallkill; daughter, Kate Fakler (Chris Decker) of Middletown; Missy A. Fakler of Greentown, PA; Heidi Naunton (Shawn) of New York; sister, Hermine Sproll of Neu-Ulm, Germany; brother, Albrecht Fakler of Wildbad, Germany; sister-in-law, Heidi Fakler of Armbach, Germany; grandchildren, Kayleigh, Christian, Sydney, Jackson Alois, David Bryce, Joshua, Janessa, Craig, AJ and Madison, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Gunter Fakler.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday February 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 145 Benkard Avenue, Newburgh, NY. Cremation will follow with the burial of ashes to follow at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Hal’s name to the St. Francis of Assisi Food Pantry in Newburgh.
