The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum (HHNM) is hosting its fundraising annual Hike-a-Thon on Saturday and Sunday, May 1st and 2nd with a brand new lineup! After 14 years, the Hike-a-Thon has been reimagined as a two day event featuring 6 hikes led by Nature Museum Naturalists. There’s something for everybody —from the smallest hikers to the most seasoned!  This important fundraiser will make sure that every child will have the chance to learn, play and explore in nature at the Nature Museum.

Hikes are offered on both days at 9am- ‘Hike and Play’, 11am- ‘Field and Forest Ramble’,  and 1pm- ‘Hearty Hike’ . All hikes, will take place at the Outdoor Discovery Center, located at 120 Muser Drive (off Angola Rd) in Cornwall, except for the *Saturday 5/1 Hearty Hike at the Wildlife Education Center, located at 25 Boulevard, Cornwall-on-Hudson. The 9am “Hike & Play” trail is perfect for families with  little ones. Led by a Nature Educator, you’ll make stops at some of the Young Naturalist Preschooler’s favorite Nature Play spots on this family friendly hike.  On the 11am Field & Forest Ramble, a Nature Educator will lead an interpretive hike that focuses on what you see on the trail that day, get you better acquainted with the world around you, and show you what plants and animals are active in early May in the Hudson Valley  . The *1pm Hearty Hike on Saturday at the Wildlife Education Center will feature a guided hike to Round Top on the Nat Stillman Trail with breathtaking views of Cornwall and the Hudson Valley. (Approx. 1 hour to complete). For the Sunday 1pm Hearty Hike,  go on a guided hike on the McKeon Loop Trail.  This 2.2 mile hike connects the Outdoor Discovery Center to Black Rock Forest. This moderately strenuous hike will take you through a beautiful deciduous forest and includes two wonderful views of the Hudson River (Approx. 1.5 - 2 hours to complete)

Pre-registration is required - $10 per person ages 3 and up. Children 2 and under are free.

Hike spaces are limited. Masks are required at all times indoors, when interacting with Nature Museum Staff, and when unable to keep a 6 foot distance from others.
