The Investigation Discovery channel show “Body Cam” documented the 2017 shooting of Town of Montgomery Police Chief Arnold Amthor on Jan. 7.
The episode showed body camera footage of the shooting as well as interviews with Chief Amthor, Maybrook Police Officer Kevin Greany, Town of Montgomery Sergeant John Hank and the chief’s wife Lisa Amthor.
The shooting occurred at 812 Abbey Avenue in Maybrook on May 16, 2017 at approximately 9:20 a.m. Amthor along with four other officers were attempting to remove 28-year-old Anthony Bostick from his ex-girlfriend’s third-floor apartment. Bostick had been involved in a domestic incident with his ex-girlfriend which started the night before.
Amthor was brought to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was released the following day. The injury caused Amthor to miss only four weeks of work.
Police surrounded the apartment for several hours after the shooting before going in and finding Bostick dead around 3 p.m. on May 16, 2017. Autopsy results showed that Bostick died of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Investigation Discovery contacted those involved in the incident several months ago, asking if the story could appear on “Body Cam”. After getting their permission, the network interviewed the officers that were involved as well as the chief’s wife Lisa Amthor.
“I’m proud of the way the officers handled it,” he said. “We did everything we could that day. It was a sad outcome all the way around.”
