Jane Mount Barber, of Walden, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.  She was 94 years old.  Jane was married to the late Clifford M. Barber.

Survivors include sons: Carl W. Magill and Scot R. Magill; grandsons: Carl W. Magill, Scotty E. Magill, and Steven Magill; great grandchildren, Jake, Jack and Sadie Magill; step sons: Thomas Barber, William Barber, Clifford Barber, and James Zanetti; step daughters: Marny Silane, Jean Crawford, Anne Hummel, Cathy Barber and Carole Barber-Scully; grandchildren: Edward, Jennifer, Lyn, John, Kaitlyn, Joanna, Corey, Mattie, William, Robert, Ian, Trevor, Lucas and Devin; great grandchildren, Michael, Ellie, Kate, William, Andrew, Alexander, Brooke, Graham, Patrick, and Nolan; and many nieces and nephews.

Jane was very active in the community serving 40 years in the Walden Woman’s Club and serving as president at the state and national levels, recruiting new members and establishing new chapters in Pakistan and Turkey.  She was a member of the Walden Historical Society, Friends of the Library, and sat on committees for Conservation, Child Abuse, and Domestic Violence, and helped raise money for fire trucks and ambulances after 911. 

Jane also taught English to young women from Latin America in her spare time at the Newburgh Free Library. 

She and her husband, Clifford were honored by the Boy Scouts of America, and Jane donated funds for a room at the local healthcare facility in Walden.  She loved antiques and was a talented interior decorator, and lover of the arts.  She was a creator of beautiful environments and was eager to give a helping hand to enhance and improve our community. 

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 13th from 10-11 a.m. at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden,. Funeral services will be held at   11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home following the visitation.  Burial will be in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery.  Due to current health and occupancy restrictions, a wait-time may apply and face masks are required.  

Memorial contributions may be made in Jane’s memory to the Walden Women’s Club or St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Walden.
