Starting February 1st, Maybrook Scout Troop 236 will be accepting boys and GIRLS ages 11-18! All scouts will have the opportunity to achieve ranks up to and including Eagle Scout. You can also join the amazing Troop 236 band, but that is not a requirement. It is also not necessary to live in the Village of Maybrook. If you are interested, please contact Scout Leaders Abby Williams (845-283-5084) or Bill Giannico (845-527-9333).

New Baby

Congratulations to Village of Maybrook residents Kimberly and Christopher Houck on their beautiful new daughter! Hayden was the first baby of 2019 to be born at the Kaplan Family Birthing Center at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.

What a wonderful way to start the New Year!

Seeking new fire members

The Maybrook Fire Department is actively seeking new members! The department is comprised of active members from teenagers (junior members) to seniors. There are Firefighters, Emergency Medical Technicians, Certified First Responders, Ladies Auxiliary and more.

Training will be offered to any new members interested in joining. Anyone interested in joining or learning more should stop by the firehouse (204 Wallace Avenue, Maybrook) or call 845-427-2220.

Prekindergarten program

Valley Central School District announces its anticipated continued participation with the grant funded New York State half-day and full-day Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) program for the 2019-2020 school year.

A Parent Information Night and Vendor Fair will be held on Thursday, January 31 at 7 p.m. in the Berea Elementary School cafeteria. Applications for the 2019-2020 UPK program will be available that evening and will also be available for download on the UPK web site beginning that day. Eligible children include those who will be 4 years old on or before December 1, 2019 and who reside in the Valley Central School District.

Completed, eligible applications will guarantee your child an opportunity to be included in the lottery selection process for the program. Applications are due no later than March 14, 2019. For more information or to download an application, please visit our website atvcsd.k12.ny.us/Page/5893 or call the UPK Office at 457-2400 extension 18134 to have an application mailed to you.

Kiwanis Club

The next meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Maybrook is on Tuesday, January 22nd at the Senior Center. Come to a meeting and learn more, no obligation to join.

Everyone is welcome to join and help make a difference in our community, including those who live outside of Maybrook. If you are interested in membership or have an idea for a community project, please contact Club President Guy Cusumano at-662-1720 (guycusu@gmail.com).

You can also visit the Kiwanis Club of Maybrook Facebook page.

No parking

There is no parking on village streets during snowstorms. Keep the roads clear for plows and emergency vehicles. The next Village Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 28 at 7 p.m. at the Government Center.
