Maybrook’s Easter Egg hunt draws a crowd

You couldn’t ask for a more picturesque early-spring day than what we got for the annual Village of Maybrook Easter Egg Hunt at the Senior Center in Maybrook Sunday.

With just a few milky clouds, blue skies and soft winds well over 200 people, parents and friends included descended on the park to enjoy watching the children of Maybrook gleefully run around picking up plastic eggs stuffed with toys and candy.

The Easter bunny even found time in its busy April schedule to make an appearance. For those who may have found a few less eggs than others? No problem Village of Maybrook mayor, and the Easter bunny’s assistant for the day Dennis Leahy was there to hand out bonus eggs as the crowd funneled in from the outdoor hunt, into the senior center where the free gift basket raffle was held.
Leahy, served as the master of ceremonies with one mission, give away the 12 gift baskets and get people back outside into the beautiful spring weather.

“It’s such a perfect day outside,” Leahy said. “I’d had to keep anyone cooped up in here for longer than necessary, I want to get everyone back outside to enjoy this gorgeous weather.”

The 12 baskets were divided up evenly with five for boys and five for girls, and the remaining two, slightly larger which of course were divided one per gender.

Refreshments including cookies, donuts and apple juice were also served, free of charge courtesy of ShopRite.
