Montgomery approves speed detection sign

The Montgomery Village Board has obtained a speed detection sign.

The sign will be programmed to a desired speed set by the village board. If any vehicle driving above the speed limit passes by the sign, it will turn red and blink. The village board plans to use the sign on Union and Ward Streets, in addition to any other areas they feel traffic is traveling too fast.

“This is one of the best machines out there,” said Village Trustee Michael Hembury. “Easy to move around on a trailer and best of all, solar-powered with a long lifespan.”

The $10,000 sign and trailer was donated to the village by Medline.
