Montgomery Senior Center to sponsor flu shot clinic

The Village of Montgomery Senior Center is pleased to announce a Parking Lot Flu Shot Clinic. This will be held on Tuesday, September 15, at  36 Bridge St. from 10 a.m. to 2 pm.
Walgreens Pharmacy will be onsite to administer  the flu shots. Seniors who would like to receive the flu shot are asked to call the center  457-9367 to reserve a spot by Friday, September 11. There will be a limited quantity. Seniors must have valid insurance card and of course masks must be worn at all times.

The Town of Montgomery Farmer’s Market is held every Tuesday  from 9 am to 2 pm at the Town Hall, Bracken Rd. Montgomery. To see a list of all the fine vendors there go to Tomstrongfarmersmarket.com.

The Town of Montgomery Food Pantry helps a lot of people in time of need. To help them out do you know you can send monetary donations  to: Town of Montgomery Food Pantry, Post Office Box 423, Montgomery, NY 12549. There is also a donation box in the lobby of the Post Office.
Congratulations to Kelly Pressler who was recognized by Super Lawyers as a 2020 Upstate New York Rising Star, Kelly received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2006 from Siena College in Loudonville, New York. Kelly received her Juris Doctor degree in 2009 from Albany Law. 

Kelly, an attorney with Jacobotwitz & Gubits serves as a director for the Boards of Fearless! Hudson Valley, Inc. and Leadership Orange.  She is President of the Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties. Kelly resides in Montgomery with her husband and their four young children.

It is a good idea to remember to have your house number visible in case of an emergency. Many times shrubs and trees obscure the numbers on houses and mailboxes. 
And speaking of mailboxes, keep the safety of our letter carriers in mind and make sure to clear vegetation and bees nests from your mailbox.

Climate week is Sept 21-27 this year. To kick it off The Town of Montgomery, the Montgomery Repair Cafe and HeatSmart Orange County are hosting a Climate-Smart Montgomery Expo  with a Mini Repair Cafe in Benedict Farm Park on Sept 20. There will be games for the kids and food . The event is free and open to the public from 1:30 to 4:30.

The mini Repair Cafe will accept small electrical items/appliances, costume jewelry and  fabric clothing, fabric toy repairs. Items are limited to 2 per person and must be brought between the hours of 1:30 and 4 PM to allow time for repair. Be prepared to assist our coaches in wiping down items prior to repair.  This is an outdoor event. Please remember social distancing and masks are still required at all the activities.
 The annual Village of Montgomery Classic Antique Car Show scheduled for  September 27,has been canceled.

The annual  Village of Montgomery  Fall Yard Sale Day  is planned for October 10, — 10 am-5 pm. Sunday will be the rain date.

The Taste of Montgomery 2020  will be located at  141-142 Clinton Street, Montgomery, between the Montgomery Village Museum and Orange County Firefighters Museum is to be held on Sunday, October 18, 1- 4 pm.

The Montgomery Free Library is happy to announce that inter-library(books from other libraries) loans are now available.

You can go online to montgomerynylib.org. Hours for curbside pick up only are : Mon. and Wed. from 10 am to 12 noon,  Tues. and Thur. and Fri. 1 - 3 pm. Please bring  all returned books to  the book drop on the front porch. Call the library for more at  456-5616.
