‘Music in the Grove’ series continues in September

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sandra Scarano, longtime resident of Orange County. Sandy, an accomplished artist, was well known to many for artwork painted on murals, on store fronts and inside businesses as well as arts and crafts sold to her many devoted customers. Sandy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Happy Birthday wishes to Daniela Revella, daughter of John and Perla Revella. Daniela will have a special celebration of her 8th birthday on September 2. Enjoy!
On Sept. 3, my daughter Sandra Magill will celebrate her special day. Many Birthday greetings from relatives, friends, members of the Walden Historical Society, the Walden Community Council and members of the Walden Teen Center are on the way! We wish her “all life’s best”!
Also on September 5 be sure to wish Pastor Raymond Cummings a very Happy Birthday. Family, friends and parishioners from the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church are ready to join in a special celebration! Thank you Pastor Ray for all you do for the Walden community!
On September 7, well-known Walden resident, Audie Bellarosa, will take time off to enjoy his Special Day. May it be the best ever, Audie!

The Village offices will be closed on Monday, September 7 for the Labor Day Holiday! Garbage services this week will be delayed 1 day due to the Holiday.

The 2020 Village Election is set for Tuesday, September 15, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. at the Village Hall, 3rd Floor BradleyAssembly Room. On the ballot will be Village of Walden candidates running for three trustee positions for a 2 year term. You are reminded to wear your mask.

The Walden Rotary Club will hold its 7th Annual Golf Classic at the Otterkill Country Club, 100 Otter Road Campbell Hall, on Monday September 28, $140 per golfer; $100 for a tee/green sign.

It is my hope that you have completed the 2020 Census? By doing so, we can shape the next ten years in our community. The power to change your community is in your hands. Together we can help funding every year for the next ten years for public services like healthcare, childcare programs, public transportation, schools and job assistance. More important, our responses determine how many seats each state has in the U. S. House of Representatives. The Music in the Grove series is extended through September. The next scheduled concert is September 2 , 6:30 p.m. will feature Midnight Slim & LaurieAnne. Also mark your calendar to see Kevin Cronin on September 9. Kevin is a singer, songwriter who plays folk and soft rock music on his acoustic guitar.. Bring your friends, your lawn chairs and stop by for a safe, socially distant concert.

The Walden PBA retirement dinner honoring Walden’s Police Chief Jeffry Holmes is set for October 23, 6 p.m. at the Villa Venezia, 2257 Goshen Turnpike, Middletown. Tickets are $90 per person.
Tickets must be paid for by October 10. No tickets sold at the door. Checks can be mailed to Walden PBA, P. O Box 648, Walden, 12586 (please note on check retirement dinner ticket).

The Josephine-Louise Public Library sends the following news:

We will be taking registration for our first “Outside Art class” for ages 5 years and up to be held on Wednesday, September 16, 4:30 p.m. In the event of rain, the art class will be held the next day, Thursday, September 17. Class size may be limited so please make sure that you register by calling the library at 778-7621.
National Voter Registration Day is celebrated on the fourth Tuesday every September. Its goal is to focus attention on the importance of our rights and the opportunity to have our voices heard.
