New Bullville Firehouse proposed

At the Crawford Town Board meeting on April 15, Joe Moore, chairman of the building committee for the Bullville Fire Company, proposed a new firehouse.

The budget for the new firehouse would be approximately $3.5 million. The building would be located at the same property as the existing firehouse. In addition, the company aims to create a firehouse that is similar to the Slate Hill one.

Moore explained that the project did not have to be put up for a vote, as it is a company-owned firehouse. This is contrary to district-owned firehouses.

Moore noted that the company is in dire need of a new firehouse.
“We are running out of room,” he said. “The existing firehouse was built in 1975 I believe… We have no storage whatsoever.”

Next, the proposal for the new firehouse will appear as an agenda item at the Town of Crawford Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on May 5. After that, Moore plans to appear before the town’s planning board.

Moore noted that if everything goes well the company hopes to break ground this fall.

“When I say hopefully, I mean hopefully,” he said. “I know we have a lot of work to do.”
