On Monday, Sept. 21, new sidewalks were installed on Country Club Drive in Maybrook, connecting Ted Miller Drive and Homestead Avenue.
This was funded by a Dormitory Authority State of New York (DASNY) Grant through Sen. William Larkin in 2015.

The village is currently looking into starting and completing the replacement of sidewalks on Homestead Avenue between Oak Street and Williams Street. This would also be funded by a DASNY Grant that was secured by Sen. James Skoufis this past year. Village of Maybrook Engineer Sean Hoffman is working on the permits with the New York State Department of Transportation.

“We will keep residents along Homestead Avenue updated as we move along,” said Village of Maybrook Mayor Dennis Leahy. “Our hope is to get them completed before winter.”

Furthermore, Leahy shared that September is National Recovery Month. This is a national observance held every September to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with mental and substance use disorders to live healthy and rewarding lives. Now in its 31st year, National Recovery Month celebrates the gains made by those living in recovery.

The Village of Maybrook helps people deal with addiction through their close partnership with Hope Not Handcuffs. This is an initiative started by Families Against Narcotics aimed at bringing law enforcement and community organizations together in an effort to find viable treatment options for individuals seeking help to reduce dependency with heroin, prescription drugs and other substances.

The Village will also participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign held each October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. Pink ribbons will be placed at the Maybrook Government Center .
