OB&T Montgomery branch gets a facelift

The Montgomery branch of Orange Bank and Trust received a face lift this month after undergoing renovations to better facilitate private and business banking.

Tim McCausland, Managing Director of Private Banking, said the redesign emphasizes the personal relationship between banker and customer. With the rise of online banking, fewer customers need to enter a bank for services given at the traditional teller line, such as depositing a paycheck.

Joseph Thompson, architect with Degraw and Dehaan Architects, said a conference room was added and the interior was refurbished, with new flooring, trim, paint etc. The standing teller line was replaced with a large bank of desks were customers can sit down and talk to banking representatives.

“It’s little bit more of an intimate experience with the customer,” Thompson said.

The bank tellers’ positions have been rebranded as business bankers, who take on entrepreneurial tasks—such as opening accounts or granting referrals—in addition to the traditional duties of a teller, McCausland said.

President and CEO Michael Gilfeather said the renovation is a part of the rebranding of the bank as a private and business bank which focuses on the personal relationship between the bank and its customers.
“The thought was to reconfigure [the bank] so it is more in line with building and maintaining relationships,” Gilfeather said.
