An early morning house fire in the Town of Montgomery killed a man on June 10.

At 6:50 a.m., Town of Montgomery Police and the Coldenham Fire Department were dispatched to 22 Barron Road for a reported house fire. They were advised that two residents had exited the house but others might still be trapped inside.

The fire department was able to knock down the main body of fire within 10 minutes of arriving on scene. Two residents escaped, however Kevin Horan, 45, was located in the residence and was removed by firefighters. He was transported by EMS to St. Luke’s Montefiore Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The cause and circumstances of the fire are under investigation by multiple agencies at this time. The Coldenham Fire Department was assisted by multiple other fire departments and police agencies that responded to the scene. In addition, the Orange Lake and Wallkill Fire Departments covered for the Coldenham Fire Department while they operated the scene.
