Operation Reassurance

It is my prayer that everyone remains safe and healthy during these challenging times. If you are able please check on your elderly neighbors. With being housebound, a phone call brings much joy.

As I embrace my “Golden Years” from time to time I have shared helpful information to seniors that warrant revisiting.
In 1974 a program was developed by the Village of Walden Police Department for the elderly and persons with medical conditions that required that they contact our police department anytime before noon.
If the department did not hear from you by that time, they contact the emergency contact for that person. Typically, the emergency contact is a family member or a neighbor who can act as a key holder. This program has been successful over the years.

Four requirements must be met in order to be placed on Operation Reassurance – 1. The person must want the service; 2. The person must live alone; 3. The person must live in the Village of Walden; 4. The person must have a phone.

The Josephine-Louise Public Library sends the following news:
The Josephine-Louise Public Library closed on March 14 and will remain closed until March 28 or until further assessment and recommendations from Health Officials have been reviewed.
If you have library items, you may return them at a later date. There will be no late fees. Programs that were canceled for March will be rescheduled.
The library is working on a new website and we hope to go “live” pretty soon. Obviously, this is not the time to be without one but please “like” us on Facebook to stay up to date. Feel free to call the library for any questions. If we can’t pick up, leave a message. We check them daily. For those who have internet services and devices, now is a good time to discover the online services that libraries provide! You can also take a few minutes to fill out the 2020 Census Survey online. A direct link is provided on every library’s home page as well as the library’s search page.
Our goal is to do what we can to help keep everyone safe. It will take patience as we learn, along with you, how to navigate our way through this.
