Panthers drop season finale in Highland

Wallkill’s boys’ basketball team finished their season last week after failing to reach the postseason.

“Since we were eliminated,” said Hunter Andrews, Wallkill’s coach, “our effort has remained strong.”

Wallkill played Highland on the road Tuesday, Feb 19 after a wild offensive display in Boiceville days earlier when the Panthers nearly scored 90 points to beat Onteora. Against Highland last week, the offense cooled off as the Huskies won by nearly 30 points, 74-43.

Mat Shea led the Panthers with 17 points as Wallkill dropped to 6-13. During their first game against Highland this season, the Panthers lost by 3 points in overtime.
