As the school year comes to a close, Pine Bush honored more than 20 senior athletes Wednesday, June 4, who have committed to play collegiate sports.

“That’s big deal,” said Mike Gillespie, Pine Bush’s athletic director, of the 21 to be honored during the gathering.

By the end of the ceremony, he learned Wylaimee Shalders will go to Mount Saint Mary College for track and field.

Athletes from many sports from throughout the school year were honored at the gathering. Colin Lang, a top sectional and state diver, will head to D-I Niagra. Haakon Meland will play baseball at Coastal Alabama, a junior college. Logan DeVries, his teammate, will play baseball at SUNY Ulster.

Kyle Jaloszynski, a four-year lacrosse player, will head to D-II Roberts-Wesleyan near Rochester.

“I have always had the desire to play past high school,” he said “It’s a different level of competition. Different practices.”

Matthew Fitzpatrick will play lacrosse at D-II Lincoln Memorial University. Derek Serviss, his teammate, will play at D-III Ferrum.
Kaylee Armida will play softball at D-III Clark University, and Emily Bott will play volleyball at D-II Barton College. Becky Drumm will play soccer at SUNY Delhi.

In track and field, Andrew Maloy and Marcel Bialt will head to Mount Saint Mary College. Miles Moliterni will head to SUNY Oneonta.

Nick Florin will also head to SUNY Oneonta to wrestle.

“My coaches always pushed me hard,” said Florin, of wrestling at Pine Bush after finishing with 123 victories. “It’s more of a mental game. Not just for me, but everybody. It’s a bar that was set high in our room, and I am going to take that to Oneonta.”

Lukas Pennell will wrestle at SUNY Sullivan, and Miguel Tejeda will wrestle at D-III Western New England.
