Project Sailfish public hearing continued to Jan. 14

Posted

After a lengthy public debate on Jan. 7, the Town of Montgomery planning board decided to schedule the continuation of public hearings for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), site plan and special exception use permit applications for Project Sailfish on Jan. 14.

Located near Interstate-84 and the intersections of NYS Route 17K and 747, the project will turn 188 acres of vacant land into an approximately 1-million-square-foot warehouse with more than 1,000 car parking spaces and 225 truck trailer spaces.

Residents expressed concerns about storm water management, tax abatements and impacts on traffic, wildlife, the Tin Brook and historical resources at the special meeting on Jan. 7.

The full DEIS and other documents are available on Montgomery’s website at townofmontgomery.com, or project documents may be found at town hall.

Written comment is currently being accepted and will be accepted by the planning board for ten days after the public hearing is closed. Comments may be addressed to Suzanne Hadden, Town of Montgomery Planning Board, Town Hall—110 Bracken Road, Montgomery. Comment may also be emailed to shadden@townofmontgomery.com.

The continuation of the public hearings for Project Sailfish will be at town hall on Jan. 14 at 8 p.m.
