Sen. James Skoufis (D-Woodbury) announced $1.5 million in funding rewards to repave roads impacted by extreme weather conditions. Through the PAVE NY initiative, the Department of Transportation will renew Route 52 from Boniface Drive in Pine Bush to the Village of Walden line. This project will begin and be completed in 2020.

Prior to this announcement, Route 52 was slated to be rehabilitated in 2024 at the earliest. The repavement will take place for nearly three miles between Boniface Drive in Pine Bush to the Village of Walden line.

Skoufis said, “I tirelessly lobbied the Department of Transportation to ensure that this section of Route 52 was prioritized in the PAVE NY initiative. Road safety is a quality of life issue and securing funding for our infrastructure will always be a top issue for me.”
