Sr. Stephanie Thibeau died peacefully on May 3, 2020. She was born in Boston, MA, the eldest daughter of the late William and Mary Thibeau. She entered the Little Sisters of the Assumption in 1955 in Haverford, PA. She made her final vows in France on April 28, 1964.
In her 65 years of religious life she served as an LPN in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
Sr. Stephanie, was full of fun, kindness and hospitality. She loved children and enjoyed their energy and playfulness. She took the time to ask questions and really listened to them. She enjoyed sitting down with visitors around a cup of tea and a plate of cookies or candy. Family was very important to her. She never missed a birthday and loved to send cards to her family members on special occasions.
Music was a big part of Sr. Stephanie’s life. She sang in the choir at St. Francis de Sales Parish in South Philadelphia 47th St, and made sure there was music for the Christmas Eve Masses celebrated at our chapel in Walden, NY.
Sr. Stephanie loved arts and crafts. She facilitated a group in Walden that forged lasting friendships. Relaxation was a trip to Michaels or the Christmas
Tree Shops for materials and ideas! Her wit and sense of humor endeared her to her family and friends.
Sr. Stephanie was predeceased by her siblings William J, Evelyn Danforth, Charles and Lorraine Casey Ribeiro. She is survived by her sister Betty Foley of Mashpee, MA. She was the loving aunt to 23 nieces and nephews, and many beloved grandnieces and grandnephews who made her face light up when they walked in the room.

Due to the pandemic, a private wake service was held on May 8, with burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, MA. A celebration of Sr. Stephanie’s life will be held at a later date when gatherings will be permitted.
