The Supporters of Music Education (S.O.M.E.) of the Wallkill Central School District, a parent-led volunteer group, is holding its third booster shirt campaign.

The funds raised will go toward supporting the district’s annual Summer Music Program, which has remained free for students within the district for more than twenty years. The program offers free music instruction for district students grades 4 and up. In addition to this, new in 2019: Beginning Strings-students going into 4th grade, Junior Strings going into grades 5, 6, 7 and Percussion Ensemble for grades 6-12.

They are ALL new groups to Summer Music! Many of these summer music students learn an instrument for the first time, and go on to play for many years. Research has found that learning music facilitates learning other subjects and enhances skills that children inevitably use in other areas. If you wish to support S.O.M.E.’s efforts, please visit their campaign at facebook.com.
