Town of Montgomery hires new deputy supervisor

The Montgomery town board hired Paul Arteta, Orange County Sheriff Captain, as the new Deputy Supervisor.

Before his entrance into the Orange County Sheriff office, Arteta worked in the Village of Montgomery Police Department for eight years and briefly in the Town of Montgomery Police Department. Arteta has been a resident of Montgomery for 25 years.

Arteta said he possesses leadership skills through his current office, where he oversees the budget, 85 deputies, 11 sergeants, three lieutenants and various units within the organization.

“I just want to give back a little bit to my community,” Arteta said.

Town Supervisor Rodney Winchell said Arteta is ethical and well-known in the Montgomery community.

“He’s very ethical, responsible and he’ll make a decision,” Winchell said. “My principles and values I feel are the same as his.”

The deputy supervisor’s main role is to step in for the supervisor if he is unable to run the government by conducting meetings and other business the supervisor would normally handle.

Arteta, who is not on the town board, replaced board member Cindy Voss.
