Emily Librandi started swimming when she was about 7 or 8 years old. She would become a varsity swimmer at Valley Central and swim on 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams that set school records.

“It’s a big part of my life,” said Librandi, of swimming. “It keeps me focused.”
Librandi was one of 11 student-athletes who were honored Wednesday, April 10 in the high school gym, and she will be going to East Stroudsburg University, a Division II school in Pennsylvania.

“It was actually my goal,” said Librandi, of swimming in college.
Matt Abatangelo will also go to Pennsylvania to play lacrosse at the Misericordia University, a Division III school. Kader Price will play lacrosse at Division III Albertus Magnus University, and Madison Apap will also play lacrosse at Division III Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Devin Scully will play soccer at Division II Wingate University. Mackenzie Caterina will also play soccer at Farmingdale State College, a Division III school.

Mark Crisfield will play football near Rochester at Saint John Fisher College, a Division III school.

“It was a dream of mine since I was a young kid,” said Scully, of playing college soccer.

And his experience playing for Valley Central will benefit Scully when he heads to college this fall.

“It helped me become a better leader,” said Scully.

Kortney McHale will play tennis at Saint Leo University, a Division II school. Kaitlyn Greenberg will be part of the track and field program at Division III Alfred University, and Mason Davis, a thrower, will head to Albany to be part of the track and field program at the College of Saint Rose, a Division II school.
