After finishing 6-10 in 2018 and losing in the Section 9, Class A semis to Monroe-Woodbury, Valley Central’s boys’ lacrosse team is getting ready for a new season as the Vikings drop to Class B.

“We’re pretty much revamping everything,” said Tom Stoddard, Valley Central’s coach. “Our entire offensive, with besides one kid, is juniors and under.”

On attack, Valley Central will have Dan McClure, Aidan Duran, Aidan Laughman and Matt Abatangelo, who will also play in the midfield. Keith Widas and Randy Rosario will also be the midfielders.

Carter Laughman will be the long-stick midfielder, and Keith Treiland, Gavin Shust, and Maddox Schaper will play defense as they guard Alex Oaks and Cameron Prutzman, the goalies.

The Vikings drop to a competitive Class B with Warwick, Minisink, Goshen, Cornwall, FDR and Highland, which moved up to Class B after winning the Section 9, Class B title in 2018.

“We’re hoping to make the playoffs and make the section final,” said Stoddard, “and then go from there.”
