Congratulations to Walden Veterans of Foreign Post 2946 on receiving their Golden Anniversary Award from National Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

This great organization opened on June 3, 1969. Chester Fox was its first Commander. Members met in various locations until they purchased their current location at 4-8Oak Street.

Commander David E. Penney, Life Member, has been its Commander for the past 15 years. Commander Penney accepted the award on behalf of Walden VFW at a District meeting in New Paltz. The award was sent by Vincent B. I. Lawrence, Commander-in Chief from National Headquarters in Washington, D. C. who acknowledged in his letter that the members of VFW Post 2946 are all pillars of support for Walden and year after year provide superb public service to others and continue to practice and uphold American ideals. They truly live up to their motto “No one does more for Veterans!”

The Village of Walden is very proud of VFW Post 2946!

Kudos to all who participated in the 8th Annual Ken Rain Memorial Ride! Over $2,000 was raised to aid cancer research.

G. S. Troop 285 continue to work at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden on June 23, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Walden Rotary Club members send Happy Birthday wishes to Francoise Pierre on June 18. Club members also wish Steve Bojsiuk, Lisa Spizuco, Peter Sullivan and Rod Winchell a very Happy Birthday on June 21. May they all enjoy their special day!
The New York School of Music, 42-B Orchard Street, Walden, will host tonight’s, June 12th meeting of the Walden Community Council. The Harvest Fest Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., the WCC meeting will start promptly at 7 p.m.

The Council is seeking new members. Please join and get more involved in your community.

Town of Montgomery Chamber of Commerce President, Jennifer Cuevas announces that the annual Chamber Dinner recognizing local businesses will be held tonight, June 12, 6 p.m. at the Maybrook Senior Center. Local businesses being honored include ShopRite of Montgomery, Verizon Wireless Zone of Montgomery, Mod 66 Salon and Spa, and Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union of Montgomery.You are invited to join in for a catered dinner and awards.

The Walden Beach will open for the 2019 Summer Season on Saturday, June 15 and will be open daily, 12 – 6 p.m. until August 25.

Bring the family for affordable summer fun close to home. Life guards on duty.Beach fees are: Residents Daily Pass (under 18) – $2; Non Residents (under 18) – $3; Residents daily pass (over 18) – $2.50; Non Residents daily (over 18) – $4; Individual Resident Summer Pass – $35; Non resident Summer Pass- $50; Family Resident Summer Pass – $50; Family Non-resident Summer Pass $75. Swimming Lessons per session – $20.


On Thursday, June 20, 9 – 3 p.m. visit the Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road,Walden for their indoor yard sale. Many amazing treasures can be found.

All proceeds benefit the care of the animals at the shelter. For information call 778-5115.

“Wallkill Valley Railroad, Part 1 : From Birth to New York Central”, Thursday, June 20, 6:30 p.m. Railroad historian Bob Earle will give a presentation on the birth of the Wallkill Valley Railroad in 1866 and how it later consolidated with the New York Central Railroad. Stop by anytime between the hours of 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Larry will be at his garage and will work with you on an individual basis.
