Walden Knights of Columbus support Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster was the grateful beneficiary of a $500 donation from The Most Precious Blood Council #9254 of the Knights of Columbus. The funds, presented by the Council’s Grand Knight Jason Matadobra and member Paul Plate, to Catholic Charities’ Deputy CEO, Shannon Kelly, will be used to support the non-profit agency’s social safety net programs, including emergency food and shelter assistance.
“As the days grow colder and the pandemic lingers on, families are struggling to stay warm and safe. Catholic Charities is fortunate to have the support of community partners, like the Knights of Columbus, who embrace our mission to provide help and create hope for our neighbors in need. We are stronger together,” said Shannon Kelly.
Traditionally, the Walden-based council’s largest fundraiser is a classic car show, held the second Saturday of July in the Village of Walden. The show was canceled this past year due to COVID-19.
“In these trying times facing our community, we at the Knights of Columbus do what we can to help out those in need in our community,” said Grand Knight Matadobra. “The charitable work done by Catholic Charities is vital to our community. We need programs like these now more than ever.”
Catholic Charities provides emergency aid to those in need, regardless of religion or ability to pay. Orange County residents should contact the regional helpline at ccosuhelpline@cccsos.org or call 561-1665.
