Wallkill’s Summer Reading Program out of this world!

Registration is open for this year’s Summer Reading Program at the Wallkill Public Library! Once you sign up for one of our SRP programs or events, you can start logging your books!

This summer’s theme is A Universe of Stories. In keeping with that, programming will include STEM and Sensory Exploration (for both Little and Big “Dippers”), crafts such as wood-burned celestial coasters and felted space rocks, and special events such as an opportunity to visit the STAR Lab Planetarium at Ostrander Elementary!

Just like last year, dog tags and beads will be used to track your reading progress. Reading one picture book will give you one black or white bead, and reading for 20 minutes will earn you one blue or green bead. Beads and dog tags will stay at the library until the Aug. 9 finale. Paper log books and BINGO games will be available for those who are not interested in the dog tags.

This year’s kickoff is Thursday, June 27, and will feature fun throughout the day! At 11 a.m., local musician Evan Gottfried will perform his interactive music and movement show. From 1-3 p.m., the Rolling Video Game Truck will be at the library for tweens and teens who want to game with their friends.

At 3 p.m., all are welcome to an Ice Cream Social to end the day’s festivities!
