Wear your mask!

Open letter to Village of Montgomery Mayor, Steve Brescia.

I saw you at the musical gathering in the middle of the village last night, July 2. I asked you why you were not wearing a mask. You ignored me. You did have a mask in your hand, as you were standing about two feet from a police officer who was also not wearing a mask.

Questions: Do you think, or know that you don’t carry the COVID virus? Do you think or know that you are somehow genetically superior to the rest of the residents of the village, perhaps assuming that we all would somehow benefit from the spray from your mouth and nose? Are you following Trump’s lead, that wearing a mask is somehow beneath you?

While I can assure you in my twenty years in this village, I have never voted for you; regardless, you are the mayor. In that capacity, at least some residents look up to you for guidance and leadership. Start acting like a leader. Even toadies like Pence and McConnell and Cruz are publicly wearing masks now. If they can, you surely can.

If you insist on having these public gatherings, which quite honestly are probably a good idea, a return to some normalcy, and I admire you for that, do the right thing and wear a mask, and lose the false, toxic masculinity.

Lives may very well depend on it, Steve.
